I am a proud member of the Seaside BNI on Vancouver Island and thoroughly enjoy our Friday breakfast meetings. These events are both informative and productive. One of the wonderful contacts I have made through this association is with Cydney of Cydney Hellier Gray Design. She is a local Interior Designer that loves to help people realize their dreams. Collaborating with her clients and a professional team, working with a vast array of resources, and really reading the context of the space, her results are always outstanding.
Any home can come to life, be it a small oasis, or stately acreage. Invest in professional advice!
I hope you enjoy her guest post below.
I was recently part of a very successful renovation project that became the Feature Home of The Prestigious Victoria Art Gallery Annual Home and Garden Tour. This stunning waterfront home had a classic and timeless appeal. The details throughout the home, and the understated elegance, truly made this home inviting and comfortable. Many people seek this atmosphere for their own homes, Below is an outline of how it was accomplished:
Space can often be created by adding onto your home or converting existing space. The subterranean Media Room of this property had previously been a garage. We accomplished this by adding to the footprint to create a new garage, which was better positioned to allow for a dramatic entry courtyard. A large dressing room with custom cabinetry was also added to the master suite.
The Media Room showcases simple materials combined in a classic way. The goal in this type of decorating scheme was to have everything understated, yet elegant. As they say, “form follows function.” This space enables a multitude of activities, while hiding everything tastefully behind custom millwork. Having a place for everything you’d like to use in the room ensures that it stays clutter free.
This room will be enjoyed for many, many years and is very warm and inviting; flowing beautifully to the rest of the home.
If you’re thinking of re-designing your home I’d be happy to hear from you (250) 896-4663.
